Dec. 29 - Savannah School Wins 10,000 Box Tops for Education®
Dec. 29, 2011 - Ford Motor Company and General Mills, two companies that have made supporting education a key element of their businesses, today awarded May Howard Elementary School with 10,000 Box Tops for Education worth $1,000.
Michael Offer, General Manager of J.C. Lewis Ford, presented May Howard Elementary with 10,000 Box Tops for winning the Ford Drives Box Tops Sweepstakes; a two-month sweepstakes which aims to generate $1 million in support for schools throughout the U.S. Sweepstakes winners were chosen at random, including Dawn Mace, a school nurse who decided to award the prize money to May Howard.
“This is such a gift for our school and we are very thankful for the generosity of Ford and General Mills,” said Leah Colby, Assistant Principal at May Howard Elementary.
May Howard is one of eight schools across the nation who won 10,000 Box Tops, including two schools that were also announced today in Orlando and Equality, IL. One national winner, which will be announced later this month, will win 250,000 Box Tops worth $25,000. Schools can use the money in any way they choose.
“Since this company started, Ford has always looked for ways to support our country’s young people and their education,” said Jim Farley, Group Vice President, Ford Global Marketing and Sales and Services. “We are delighted to be the first automotive company to partner with General Mills on Box Tops for Education because it provides us a unique way to reach and help students across the whole country.”
Ford took General Mills’ consumer fundraising effort and evolved it so Ford vehicle owners and shoppers could easily participate and generate funds to support their local schools. During the program participants earned Box Tops for their local school in three new ways. They requested a brochure from the official Ford/BTFE program website at FordDrivesBoxTops.com; watched product videos on the program website; or purchased a Ford vehicle at dealerships from October through November.
“The partnership with Ford is a major step for Box Tops for Education as we continue to offer new ways to activate the program beyond the packaged goods category,” said Mark Addicks, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for General Mills. “Ford’s involvement in the program will allow us to drive needed revenue for schools across the country in a very interactive way with one of America’s most storied brands.”
