Georgia Southern University will soon be the scene of a few global talents.  In early July, the Georgia Southern International Arts Academy will host 50 high school students from the United States and England.
Thirty-nine talented students from the prestigious St. Benedict School for the Performing Arts in Derby, England and twelve students from throughout Georgia will experience extensive training in theatre and the performing arts at the International Arts Academy (IAA) at Georgia Southern University.
The IAA will culminate in two public performances on campus:  7:30 p.m., Friday, July 3 at the Performing Arts Center, and 7:30 p.m., Monday, July 6 at the Carol A. Carter Recital Hall in the Foy Building.
The Friday performance features original theater developed around the common theme of NUMBERS! The Monday performance encompasses choral works, individual and small ensemble performances, poetry and prose readings, and a special performance by the St. Benedict students, all based on the common theme of NUMBERS!
Leading these talented high school students will be a team made up of four faculty members from the St. Benedict School for the Performing Arts, and five GSU faculty members from the Music and Theatre Departments.
The public is cordially invited to see both shows located on the Georgia Southern University campus.  Admission is free.  For more information, visit http://ceps.georgiasouthern.edu/conted/IAA.html or call (912) 478-5993.
