FEBRUARY 5 - SCCPSS Science Department Announces Winners of Science Fairs
The Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools’ Science Department announces the winners of the Elementary School District Science Fair and the Middle School District Science Fair for 2009-2010.
Elementary students, grades 3-5 displayed their projects at the fair on January 27-29. Students selected projects from the areas of Physical Science, Earth Science, and Life Science.
The event capped off with an awards ceremony on January 29.
Middle school students in grades 6-8 competed on January 13-15 at Woodville-Tompkins Career & Technical Institute. Middle grade students who placed in the district fair will advance to the Savannah Ogeechee Regional Science and Engineering Fair. The SORSEF will be held February 9-11 at the Coastal Georgia Center The competition will include Savannah-Chatham area students as well as students from the 12 surrounding counties.

3rd Grade:

3rd place-What is the best method of storage for fruits and vegetables?, Tiaras Polite-West Chatham
5th Grade: 1st Place- Do you know what is produced by friction?, Aureana Barnwell-Haven
2nd Place- Wicked Meltdown, Makenzy Newbill-Bartow
3rd place-Bottled Water vs. Tap Water: Which is safest to drink?, Bless Loadholt-Bartow.
