The Coastal Museums Association (CMA) is pleased to announce the following programs taking place during the month of March! CMA is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit membership organization comprised of nearly 40 museums from Statesboro to the Golden Isles, including Savannah and surrounding coastal counties. It is dedicated to serving its members by providing a forum for networking, discussing issues impacting the museum community, exchanging ideas and experiences, and facilitating professional development.
Our community boasts a wealth of cultural, historical, and educational resources and the Coastal Museums Association encourages everyone to celebrate the coming of spring by taking advantage of the many opportunities available this month!

Diesel Train Rides at the Roundhouse
Tuesdays through Sundays
Enjoy a ride on our passenger car powered by our diesel engine and learn more about an important piece of Savannah's history- the Central of Georgia Railroad. Rides will be offered everyday, Tuesdays - Sundays from March 2nd to March 18th.
Train Ride Schedule:
11am, 1pm, 2pm; Sundays 1pm, 2pm (Train rides are added as needed.)

Isaiah Davenport House Museum
“Tea at Mrs. Davenport’s”
The Isaiah Davenport House Museum presents “Tea at Mrs. Davenport’s” – Learn about tea traditions and experience an early 19th century tea in the historic atmosphere of the Isaiah Davenport House Museum .
Thursday, Friday and one Wednesday afternoons in March (March 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 24, 25) at 5 p.m.
The Museum is located at 324 E. State Street, Savannah -- the corner of State and Habersham Streets. Reservations must be received 24 hours in advance. Admission is: $18 per adult, $14 for students ages 8 to 17. There is a 14 person maximum per program.

Old Fort Jackson Overnight Camp
The tradition continues! The Coastal Heritage Society invites families to spend the night in Georgia's oldest brick fortification Friday, March 5, 2010 - Saturday, March 6, 2010 6:00pm - 8:30am. Participants receive a haversack with supplies for little soldiers and get to explore the fort by candlelight, enjoy crafts, stories, and s'mores over the campfire. Dinner and breakfast included. Be sure to bring sleeping bags! Some sleeping accommodations may be available inside the fort on a first come, first serve basis, so guests are encouraged to bring tents.
Active CHS Members received $5 off each ticket price. Tickets must be purchased in advance. $45 per child (ages 4 and up) / $35 per adult

Tours of Bonaventure Cemetery
The Bonaventure Historical Society offers free tours of Bonaventure Cemetery on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Tours are offered at 2:00, 2:30, and 3:00 P.M. 2010 tour dates are as follows: March 14; April 11; May 9th; June 13; July 11; August 8; Sept 12; Oct 10; Nov 14; and Dec 12, 2010. Bonaventure Cemetery is located at 330 Bonaventure Road, Thunderbolt, GA 31404-3222.

Interpreting the Gullah/Geechee Heritage in the 21st Century
Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum, 7:00 P.M.
Lecture by Emory Campbell, President of the National Gullah-Geechee Heritage Corridor Commission, followed by a brief discussion with members of the Corridor Commission, to promote a new book from University of Georgia Press, African-American Life in the Georgia Lowcountry: The Atlantic World and the Gullah Geechee. Presented in partnership with the University of Georgia Press, the Ossabaw Island Foundation, the Ossabaw Education Alliance, and the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum. Project funding provided in part by the City of Savannah.
