MARCH 11 - Aviation Awareness Days 2010 April 6-7
The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) from Savannah State University and the 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, in partnership with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, will host Aviation Awareness Days 2010 for public high school and middle school students.
This event is intended to increase the awareness of opportunities in civilian and military aviation among high-performing students. This all-important community awareness event will be offered to over 1,500 students on April 6-7, 2010, at the 165th Airlift Wing at Travis Airport, near the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.
The highlight of this event is the interaction between the students, the aircrews, and multiple aircraft static displays. Students will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at several military and civilian aircraft. Aircrews and aviation professionals will be on-site to answer questions, show students how aviation relates to math and science, and to encourage students about the importance of maximizing their educational experience.
Participation in this important event will include the US Navy, US Army, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, GA Air National Guard, Gulfstream, Air Force Auxiliary, Middle Georgia College, Savannah State University, as well as a myriad of military airframes on display. This event will begin at 9:15 a.m. on April 6 and 9:45 on April 7.
