MAY 17 - Coastal Danse Collective Calling for Artists
The Coastal Danse Collective, presented by Caitlin Dutton, is auditioning for dancers, visual artists, musicians, and vocalists at Indigo Arts, May 22 and 23.
Looking for artists with advanced technique, reliable transportation, and a professional attitude. Experience in improvisation is an advantage. The Coastal Danse Collective will largely feature works choreographed by Caitlin Dutton and emphasize a contemporary movement and performance quality.
The auditions will be May 22 at 11am and May 23 at 1pm, at Indigo Arts is located at 703D Louisville Road, Savannah. There will be an audition fee of $5.
Ms. Dutton began her dance training in Savannah at the age of twelve. Quickly adopting the art form as a lifelong passion, she later graduated from the Savannah Arts Academy.
After her acceptance into many of the countryʼs top dance programs, she chose to attend the world renowned Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, a part of the State University of New York. During her four years of attendance, she has performed lead roles in works by Lauri Stallings, Nelly van Bommel, and Joszef Hajzer, performed in other works by Rosalind Newman, and Lane Gifford and has learned repertory by Mark Morris. She has also studied under the NYC based company Doug Varone and Dancers. In 2008, she visited London for a semester and studied at the London Contemporary Dance School and was permitted to perform a piece created by the artistic director, Richard Alston. Caitlinʼs choreographic endeavors include, but are not limited to, several major projects shown in Purchase, NY, and the surrounding region, Inward and elsewhere shown at Dance Theater Workshop in NYC, and Getting Closer
shown at the famed Robin Howard Dance Theater in London, UK.
The Coastal Danse Collective will perform six new works throughout downtown Savannahʼs most pedestrian trafficked areas: Johnson Square, Ellis Square, City Market, Forsyth Park, and River Street. Emphasis will be given to multimedia ideas and contemporary movement in an unprecedented attempt to progress the cityʼs artistic identity.
