MAY 28 - GSU Launches Camp for Middle, High School WrestlersMiddle school and high school wrestlers will gain skills and knowledge at Georgia Southern Universitys new three-day Camp of Champs this July.
From Thursday, July 22 through Saturday, July 24, rising sixth through twelfth graders will attend the wrestling camp at the Recreational Activity Center on campus.
Run by the University Wrestling Teams head coach William Hurst, the Bulloch Academy teams head coach Andy Tomlin, and several past University team captains, the all-boys camp will offer instruction, technique, philosophy, and fun.
The Camp of Champs runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Participants must arrive between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Thursday for check-in processing.
The $175 fee includes lunch and the camp t-shirt. Campers will need to bring their own snacks. The $195 late fee applies for registrations after July 12.
Registration closes at 5:00 p.m., Monday, July 19. Registration is limited to a ratio of 10 students for each instructor, for better individualized learning.

MAY 27 - Union Mission to Honor Mr. S. Elmo Weeks for 60 Years of Service on the Board of DirectorsOn Thursday, May 27, at noon, Union Mission will honor S. Elmo Weeks for more than 60 years of service on the Board of Directors by naming the chapel at Union Mission's J.C. Lewis Health Center "The S. Elmo Weeks Chapel".Mr. Weeks, who was the president of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors in Savannah for more than 40 years, and is a founder of Savannah Christian Preparatory School, was one of the original members of the Board of Directors for Union Mission and is the only original Board member who is still alive. Union Mission began in 1937 as a shelter and soup kitchen for the homeless. The organization has experienced tremendous growth since then and now offers an array of services for homeless, low-income and at-risk populations including housing, healthcare, behavioral health, counseling and employment training.
