Bariatric Surgery Information Sessions
6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays, July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 Medical Education Auditorium, Memorial University Medical Center
Anybody considering bariatric surgery is invited to attend one of these free informational sessions with the bariatrics team at Memorial University Medical Center. The presentation includes information about both gastric bypass and band procedures and is the first step for patients seeking to join the program. Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma Support Group
5--6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 9 at the Summit Cancer Care office on the Memorial University Medical Center

Prepared Childbirth
9.30 a.m., Saturday, July 11 at Women’s Health Institute Conference Room located in the Center for Advanced Medicine, Memorial University Medical Center
This course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is designed for parents who live outside of Savannah or have schedules that make it difficult to attend weekday classes. This course includes a tour of the labor and delivery unit. Basic Breastfeeding
6.30 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m. Women’s Health Institute Conference Room located in the Center for Advanced Medicine, Memorial University Medical Center
This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include information on preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
